How about a lower caste person says to a person from the upper caste that “you don’t talk to me and I don't want you to touch my belongings”. Will it be the same feeling when it happens the other way. It breaks my heart when I see and read about the humiliating case like rape in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. while I am struggling with my career to be settle in at least 4 years from now, the timeline does not seem like the same for the community who have been discriminated since centuries. How could anyone from the privileged caste have the intention of talking about the little relaxation which has been given to the SC and ST community?

So there are still places where the same age-old rules and norms are followed regarding the social construct. If I try to understand the mindset behind these upper caste people who feel superior while repeatedly acknowledging that they are from the upper caste. The religious theory claims that the Varnas were created from the body of Brahma, the creator of the world. The Brahmanas were created from his naval; the Kshatriyas from his hands; the Vaishyas from his thighs and the Sudras from his feet.

According to the social-historical theory, the origin of the caste system finds its origin in the arrival of Aryans in India. The Aryans arrived in India around 1500 BC. The Aryans disregarded the local cultures. They began conquering and taking control over regions in north India and at the same time pushed the local people southwards or towards the jungles and mountains in north India. The Aryans distributed themselves in workgroups from the warrior, priest, farmers, and craftsmen.

Therefore, the system has been followed by communities with little or no modification. On the other hand, communities, that were put in the lower strata of the society fought for their rights to come to the mainstream and live a dignified life. The development sector has been intertwined with the politics of the country, where different parties have their own agenda towards each community. In every election, there is hope for the respected communities towards their representatives to do something which has not been done by anyone before. But the popularist mindset of the governance system has been hindering the fulfillment of the promises.

A group of people who are working in silos for the communities has no recognition and which is better that way. If the mainstream highlights these people there is a possibility that they or their enterprise will not be able to focus on the reason why they exist.
